In this simple, beginner-friendly video, I show how I turn a simple lamp made from Alumilite resin on the wood lathe. This is an easy project that focuses on safe cuts, clean shaping, and getting comfortable turning resin.

The lamp body was turned on my Record Power Coronet Herald wood lathe, using negative rake carbide woodturning tools from Easy Wood Tools, which help keep things smooth and controlled when working with resin.

For the finish, I used Yorkshire Grit Original, followed by Yorkshire Grit Microfine, to bring out the clarity and shine in the resin.

I also turned a lime wood base for the lamp using standard carbide cutters from Easy Wood Tools. The base was finished with Yorkshire Grit Original, then Hampshire Sheen finishing wax for a soft, natural look.

This is a straightforward, no-rush project aimed at beginners or anyone looking for a calm, enjoyable turning session.
