I always assumed air-dry clay was the best choice for my DIY sculptures... until this project made me think differently.

While creating a handmade vase from recycled materials, I realised that the best material depends on the project. Air-dry clay is brilliant for sculpting details, but for larger builds, paper mache and paper mache clay can be lightweight, economical, and surprisingly effective.

This experiment inspired me to explore:

Traditional paper mache
Homemade paper mache clay
DIY paper clay recipes
Natural wheat paste glue
PVA glue recipes
Recycled craft materials
