Iran's airline empire is under attack as the United States hits more than 30 Iran-linked entities with fresh sanctions — including dozens of Iranian airlines and companies accused of supporting Tehran's sanctioned aviation networks.

The US Treasury has targeted 27 Iranian airlines, including carriers linked to Iran's military and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), while also going after companies supporting Mahan Air.

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has issued a blunt warning: companies that continue doing business with sanctioned Iranian airlines could risk being cut off from the global financial system.

Washington says the new measures are part of its wider campaign, dubbed “Operation Economic Outcast,” aimed at cutting off the financial lifelines that keep Iran's economy and military-linked networks running.
