The Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim, has disclosed that GH¢107 million was paid as allowances to more than 9,000 assembly members across Ghana in 2025.

According to the Minister, allowances for the first quarter of 2026 have also been released for onward payment to assembly members.

Mr. Ibrahim made the disclosure when he appeared before Parliament’s Committee on Assurances, where he provided updates on government commitments and interventions within the local governance sector.
