2.SOUNDBITE (English) Sougwen Chung, artist:
“I think the artists are having anxiety about technology because their labour is being erased. And it’s important to me that the idea of artistic labour, and the continuity and the tradition of calligraphy and all forms of art practice, are threaded into how we build technology today.”
3. Various of fair booth of “Ornament Survival (2026)” by Emi Kusano, Kusano talking to visitors
4. SOUNDBITE (English) Emi Kusano, artist:
“I feel it’s a very interesting tool, sometimes mirroring humans, identity, human desire, because AI is sometimes repeating human bias. If I type secretaries, it’s always a woman with a miniskirt. It’s uncanny, sometimes it's scary, but it’s showing ourselves. So for me, as an artist, I welcome AI.”

“We launched this project in 2025, at the end of 2025 at Art Basel Miami Beach. The reason why we are launching here now in Asia is that we know there’s a lot of interest in digital art. And we see it here in this section, because some of the artists are actually, a good portion of the artists are from this region. Therefore, one of the specific things that Art Basel Hong Kong is doing which is bringing Asian art to the rest of the world.”
13. Various of installation “Anthems of Archipelago: We Are King of Ocean (2019-2026)” by Parag Tandel
14. Various of fair visitors taking photos of installation “City Lantern (2025)” by Suzann Victor
15. SOUNDBITE (English) Isabella Tam, curator:
“So for this edition of the Art Basel, “Encounter”, and all the 12 installations that audiences will discover, they see that they are not individual art pieces, in fact there’s a lot of inter-dialogue among them. And then you can see each artist, they are sharing similar ideas and also not only for their own practice, but also their practices are addressing similar concerns to the environment, to the water, and also to the Asian culture. So I think this time, we will hope that the audience will come to Art Basel, to the fair, they will see the uniqueness of the Asian artists' practices.”
