Prophet Ibrahim was born into an era where everyone around him worshipped idols. His community. His neighbors. His own father. Yet in the middle of all of that darkness, Allah guided him directly.
In this 1st session of a 14 part series, we explore how Ibrahim found Allah when no one around him was looking for Him. What divine guidance truly means and why Allah chose Ibrahim above all others to be His closest friend.

Here are the verses discussed in this session:
مَا كَانَ إِبْرَٰهِيمُ يَهُودِيًّۭا وَلَا نَصْرَانِيًّۭا وَلَـٰكِن كَانَ حَنِيفًۭا مُّسْلِمًۭا وَمَا كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ - 3:67
Abraham was neither a Jew nor a Christian. He was devoted purely to God and submitted himself completely to Him, and he never associated anyone with God.
26:69 - وَٱتْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ نَبَأَ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ
Tell them ˹O Prophet˺ the story of Abraham,
4:125 - وَمَنْ أَحْسَنُ دِينًۭا مِّمَّنْ أَسْلَمَ وَجْهَهُۥ لِلَّهِ وَهُوَ مُحْسِنٌۭ وَٱتَّبَعَ مِلَّةَ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ حَنِيفًۭا ۗ وَٱتَّخَذَ ٱللَّهُ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ خَلِيلًۭا
"And who has a better faith than the one who fully submits himself to Allah, does good, and follows the faith of Abraham who was purely devoted? And Allah took Abraham as His closest friend."
60:4 - قَدْ كَانَتْ لَكُمْ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌۭ فِىٓ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَٱلَّذِينَ مَعَهُۥٓ
"You have a beautiful example to follow in Abraham and those who were with him.
21:51 - وَلَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَآ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ رُشْدَهُۥ مِن قَبْلُ وَكُنَّا بِهِۦ عَـٰلِمِينَ
We certainly guided Abraham to the truth (from an early age), and We knew him well.
26:69 – وَٱتْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ نَبَأَ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ
Tell them ˹O Prophet˺ the story of Abraham,
إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِۦ مَا تَعْبُدُونَ
When he said to his father & his people: "What do you worship? 26:70
قَالُوا۟ نَعْبُدُ أَصْنَامًۭا فَنَظَلُّ لَهَا عَـٰكِفِينَ
They said, "We worship idols, and we are fully dedicated to them.“ 26:71
قَالَ هَلْ يَسْمَعُونَكُمْ إِذْ تَدْعُونَ
He said, "Do they hear you when you call on them?“ 26:72
أَوْ يَنفَعُونَكُمْ أَوْ يَضُرُّونَ
"Or can they help you or harm you?“ 26:73
قَالُوا۟ بَلْ وَجَدْنَآ ءَابَآءَنَا كَذَٰلِكَ يَفْعَلُونَ
They said, "No. But we found our fathers doing this." 26:74
قَالَ أَفَرَءَيْتُم مَّا كُنتُمْ تَعْبُدُونَ
Abraham said, "Have you actually thought about what you have been worshipping, 26:75
أَنتُمْ وَءَابَآؤُكُمُ ٱلْأَقْدَمُونَ
you and your ancestors before you?“ 26:76
فَإِنَّهُمْ عَدُوٌّۭ لِّىٓ إِلَّا رَبَّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
"They are all my enemies to me, except the Lord of all worlds.“ 26:77
ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَنِى فَهُوَ يَهْدِينِ
"He is the one who created me and guides me.“ 26:78
وَٱلَّذِى هُوَ يُطْعِمُنِى وَيَسْقِينِ
"He is the one who feeds me and gives me drink.“ 26:79
وَإِذَا مَرِضْتُ فَهُوَ يَشْفِينِ
"And when I am sick, He is the one who heals me.“ 26:80
وَٱلَّذِى يُمِيتُنِى ثُمَّ يُحْيِينِ
"And He is the one who will cause me to die and then bring me back to life.“ 26:81
وَٱلَّذِىٓ أَطْمَعُ أَن يَغْفِرَ لِى خَطِيٓـَٔتِى يَوْمَ ٱلدِّينِ
"And He is the one I hope will forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment." 26:82

When he said to his father & his people: "What do you worship? 26:70
قَالُوا۟ نَعْبُدُ أَصْنَامًۭا فَنَظَلُّ لَهَا عَـٰكِفِينَ
They said, "We worship idols, and we are fully dedicated to them.“ 26:71
قَالَ هَلْ يَسْمَعُونَكُمْ إِذْ تَدْعُونَ
He said, "Do they hear you when you call on them?“ 26:72
أَوْ يَنفَعُونَكُمْ أَوْ يَضُرُّونَ

"And He is the one I hope will forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment." 26:82
