Oman said lasting security in the Strait of Hormuz requires permanent peace across the region and rejected further escalation or conflict. Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi made the remarks during a meeting with Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi in Muscat on August 20. The two officials discussed regional security as well as ways to deepen energy and economic cooperation between Oman and Japan. According to Oman's state news agency, the countries also pledged to expand cooperation in clean energy, hydrogen, ammonia, logistics and infrastructure. The Strait of Hormuz is a crucial global energy route, making regional stability a key concern for international trade and energy markets.
