At least 47 people were killed, and 22 others were injured when armed gangs attacked the Kenscoff community near Haiti’s capital of Port-au-Prince.

The attack sparked anger among residents, who said police failed to protect people despite the violence taking place close to a police station.

The UN condemned the attack as a mass murder and urged Haitian authorities to hold those responsible to account. The violence raised fresh concerns over Haiti’s ability to hold elections planned for December.
