A massive search and rescue effort is underway in the Philippines following a powerful 7.8-magnitude earthquake.

Officials stated that the epicenter of the earthquake was located 8 miles southwest of General Santos City at a depth of 6.2 miles. Dramatic video captured on social media shows the powerful tremor disrupting a morning flag ceremony at a local elementary school.

As of the morning of June 8 (Arizona time), at least 32 people have been killed by the earthquake, which also knocked out power and triggered a tsunami warning along several regional coasts.
